The saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” applies as well when considering a car purchase. There’s a lot more to choosing a car, than deciding on your preferred body style, color and brand manufacturer. Your life could depend on how well you have evaluated and reviewed your brand new car.  
You don’t want to hear that the car manufacturer has recalled the car model you’ve recently bought. Worse, you certainly don’t want to be among those for whom the recall came too late.   
Such was the case for Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin whose 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled back accidentally and crushed Yelchin’s body against a brick wall in the driveway of his home last June.  Fiat Chrysler had earlier recalled the SUV model after reports of gear-shifting problems. 
There have been other flaws in car designs that led to fatal consequences here’s a list of the top ten.    
⦁    No front brakes 
Amazingly, Henry Ford manufactured the Ford Model T without front brakes to save on expenses—a grim fact that haunts the transformation of Industrial America. Henry Ford brought the assembly line into the car industry making for a highly efficient and productive car manufacturing. Ford sold 15 million of the model over 19-years. The Ford Model T was the first mass-produced car, but it's missing safety features, and the lack of public acknowledge resulted to a death rate that was even higher than during the First World War.  
⦁    No safety features
Having no front breaks might have been the main problem for the Ford Model T in the early 1900s but in a few decades as more cars were manufactured and became more sophisticated, fatal designs in cars were criticized, as the lawmakers sought to improve public safety. One of these cars in the 1960’s is the Chevrolet Corvair, which did not have a collapsible steering wheel, three –point seat belts, padded dashboards, or two-circuit brake systems. 
⦁    Faulty gas tank
Shocking, as it may seem, over a thousand people have died because of the Ford Pinto’s faulty gas tank that exploded when the car’s rear encounters a collision.
The defect could have avoided if Ford agreed to install a $1 part but instead of announcing a recall, Ford decided to settle individual lawsuits.  Eventually, in 1978, Ford was forced to recall 1.5 million Pintos. 
The car industry has come a long way since the early auto models regarding safety features. Government regulation on car manufacturers wants to secure that each car that on sale in the market is safe for the public – and that none of the mistakes that occurred in the past happen again.
